Uninterruptible Power Supply

Q. What is a UPS?

A. UPS stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply. A UPS system keeps the power running at all times, even when the main power grid goes down.

Q. Where is UPS used?

A. The UPS Systems ensure the continuous supply of power to avoid infrastructure damage. The most common applications are data centers and manufacturing facilities.

Q. What is the difference between a standby generator and a UPS System?

A. While both protect against a power cut, UPS is an immediate, short-term solution, providing power straight away as long as it has fully charged batteries. On the other hand, a standby generator is a long-term option but is slower to start up. It can provide power as long as it has fuel.

Q. What do I need to know to size a UPS correctly?

A. To correctly size a UPS, you need to know the following:

Is the UPS system single-phase or three-phase?

What will be the total load in VA/W?

What autonomy is required? How much "battery backup time" is needed?

        What will the UPS support?

Do they need the UPS system to be floor standing or rack-mounted?

Q. Does a UPS require maintenance?

A. Yes. It needs regular maintenance and testing to ensure correct operation.

Q. What brands of UPS do you offer?

A. We offer Liebert by Vertiv and APC by Schneider Electric
